Face Slimming Updos

It’s not a novelty that there are makeup tricks to make our face look slimmer but did you know that the choosing the right hairstyle can also have a similar effect? Updos can have a wonderful face slimming effect especially if you know how how to choose the right one.  There are a lot of things we can do to instantly look slimmer overall. Maintaining a good posture, choosing the right type of clothes for our body shape, choosing the best accessories[/link], avoiding the foods that cause bloating a few days prior to an important event, applying a few clever make-up tricks or choosing the right hairstyle can all make us look and feel more beautiful and more confident.

Updos are an ideal choice when trying to make our face look slimmer mainly because these hairstyles add weight at the crown of the head drawing attention from the features you are not so proud of, elongating the face at the same time, thus having an overall slimming effect. It should be mentioned that in order to maximize this slimming effect you should avoid full bangs, especially for those who struggle to reduce the roundness of the face.

On the other hand, soft layers will bring you one step closer to your goal. Also, maximizing hair volume is always a good idea for balancing your facial features. Here are a few hairstyles you can try:

French twist updo

Sophisticated and elegant, French twist updos are among the most popular wedding and prom hairstyles. French twist upodos are fairly easy to create at home, especially a day after you washed your hair when the hair becomes easier to manage. Here’s how to create a French twist updo in a few easy steps: first create a low loose ponytail using a hair gel or a mousse to fixate your strands. Then, lift the ponytail upwards, twisting the hair to form a roll. If you aim to create a modern French twist updo leave the ends of the hair sticking out, but if you want a classic French twist keep the ends tucked under.
Spray the twist with a little hair spray for a stronger hold and secure the coiffure with a few bobby pins or hair sticks.

Curly updos

Curls will not only help provide an adorable, romantic and innocent look but a curly updo will also help slim facial features creating the much needed volume that we all desire and that makes updos so interesting. In order to ensure the success of any curly updo hairstyle it’s important to learn how to deal with frizzy hair.

One of the most important things you can do to deal with this frustrating is to cut down on the chemical treatments as much as possible and to apply hot oil treatments regularly. Whether you opt for a casual updo or you want a more stylish classic hairstyle, make sure that you use the best styling products for your delicate strands.

Fanned updos

Fanned updos are perfect for medium hair length and have the added advantage of being suitable for all the hair textures and being an optimal choice for those who have fine fine hair. Fanned updos can be easily recreated at home being suitable mostly for informal occasions when you aim for a casual look.

A fanned updo can be is very practical being a perfect workout hairstyle. On the other hand, fanned updos can be easily adapted to more formal occasions with the help of hair accessories. This year designers have placed a special attention on creating amazing hair accessories so you should have no problem selecting the best hair accessories to match your taste.

A Quince Prayer

The tears they come
The tears they go
But beauty never hides

I see this world
Through accepting eyes
Where beauty and tears collide

So I take this crown
And Scepter too
A history as strong as steal

And call on parents
From all the world
Pray broken hearts be healed

We know what’s right
What’s true and strong
Never needed schools to see

So let heaven shine bright
On my Quince day
And as John said,
“Let it Be.”

27 Teens To Receive A Free Quinceañera

Marlene Palomar, 15, walks shyly out of the dressing room in a yellow ball gown fit for a princess. She’s greeted by an entourage of immediate and extended family, talking in unison in Spanish about how beautiful she looks. The scene is just a preview of Palomar’s much-anticipated quinceañera, where an even larger entourage of friends and family will celebrate on Sunday her transformation from girl to lady.

Her quinceañera, and that of 26 others, wouldn’t be possible if it weren’t for Norberto “Beto” Mojardin and his partner Cesar Delgado.

Mojardin owns Betos Beauty Salon in Aurora. Three years ago he decided to turn all those tears from mothers in his salon chair who didn’t know how they could afford their daughters’ quinceañeras into a dream come true.

By saving his tips, he threw – for free – his first quinceañera for 13 girls in the Denver area who had good grades and were willing to raise funds to earn money for their quinceañera.

In a grassroots effort, he rallied the Hispanic community and business owners for donations to put on the lavish event. The right of passage for young Hispanic girls can often be bigger and more expensive than a wedding and in this case, the price tag is around $50,000.

Because of the economy, more girls this year applied and donations were harder to come by, Mojardin said. Still, the quinceañera must go on.

The girls look forward to the party and all the preparation that goes into it – learning to waltz with their partner, getting their hair and makeup done by Mojardin and his staff and, of course, wearing a dress that could be plucked straight out of a Disney movie. The mothers know this once-in-a-lifetime quinceañera is so much more than their 15-year-old daughters’ minds can fully appreciate until later in life.

“It’s the best dream she’s going to have,” said Evelia Medena, whose niece Mary Gonzalez is participating.

On Sunday, the girls will go to Mass at the Cathedral Immaculate Conception in Denver. They will then get ready, a process that will begin the day before, and take photos at Cheesman Park Pavilion in the afternoon.

The girls again will perform that night at their sold-out quinceañera, which will be attended by about 2,000 people at EXDO EventCenter at Tracks Night Club in Denver.

It’s so much more than just an extravagant affair though, said Mojardin, who wants to take his quinceañera nationwide.

“It’s very important because it unites (the Hispanic community),” he said, as evidenced by all the family members who huddled together at Cheeseman Park this weekend watching their daughters practice the choreographed dances.

Mothers get together and sell burritos at churches to raise money, daughters put on a car wash and younger brothers are never far from all the preparation, which began in June.

It’s a learning experience, Mojardin said. Since he’s providing a quinceañera the girls could only previously dream about, he’s gotten their attention and he doesn’t let the opportunity slip by.

“What these girls need to learn from their quinceañera is we need to stick together, we need to do well in school … they need to be strong to make their dream come true,” he said.

What’s next? Will the traditional Corte of Honor be replaced with virtual dancers?

Technology has changed our lives so much. Before long the close contact we experienced all the time with friends and family is now becoming less and less. It used to be teens talked on the phone too much of the time. Now it’s text messaging. It takes less time and you can text a few people in the same period of time as you would make one phone call to one person.

Life is becoming more and more impersonal. Learning how to communicate face to face will probably become more of a challenge as we continue to get more attached to our cell phones, I pods, and computers.

I recommend mom’s should have some fun also and check out the InStyle.com site and play with the makeover section.

Hairstyles for Dama or Quinceanera

Posted by Super Quince on 01-03-2009

Check out this hairstyles good for dama or quinceanera. A stellar hairstyle is sure to draw eyes and attention toward you. The key to a standout hairstyle is to choose something different than your everyday hair. If you usually wear your hair up in a messy bun or ponytail, try wearing it down in a sleek, straight style or with curly waves. If you normally wear your hair down, now is your chance to try a fabulous up-do that will leave everyone staring at your beautiful neck and collarbone. You can find detailed instructions below for four glamorous styles para ese dia de quince.

Looped Ponytail

This easy, glamorous style can have you ready and out the door in less than 30 minutes. First, pull your hair up into a high ponytail. If you have curly or wavy hair, straighten it with a flat iron first. Tame any stray hairs or frizz by spraying the top of your hair with a spray gel and gently combing it down flat. Once your hair is sleek and smooth, divide the ponytail into three sections. Roll each section under and pin each with a couple of bobby pins or hair clips in a different direction. Be creative with the directions; there are no rules on how this style should look. To finish your look, add a flower, decorative hair clip, or tiara.

French Twist

The French twist is a classic, easy style with fabulous flare. For a quick style, you can make the twist sleek and simple. To add uniqueness to the twist, you can finish the ends with loose curls. To form a twist, first flatten your hair with gel for a sleek look. You can part your hair on one side (great for masking a prominent widow’s peak) or comb it all back. Take your hair at the nape of your neck and begin twisting. Once it is completely twisted, pull the twist up and attach it with clips. Spritz the entire twist with hair spray to keep it in place and tame any stray hairs. Finish the style by tucking the ends of the twist under or curling them with a small curling iron. For extra style, try tying a ribbon the same color as your dress around your head in front of the twist.

Soft Curls (For Short Hair)

A soft, curly style is a great way to wear your hair down if you have naturally straight tresses. First, set your hair in hot rollers to form the curls. While you’re waiting for the rollers to heat, do your make-up to maximize your getting-ready time. Once the rollers have cooled, unroll your hair and brush it out. Flatten the front and hold it in place with some long bobby pins or hairclips. Tease the ends and the back up with a teasing comb and some hairspray. Don’t worry about every strand of hair being perfect; the slightly disheveled look is sexy and stylish. Once you’ve finished teasing the ends, remove the clips at the front and finish the style with a flower or some rhinestone clips placed randomly throughout your hair.

Tousled Curls (For Long Hair)

If you have naturally curly hair, now is the time to take full advantage of it. A long, curly style is perfect for prom-night royalty and guaranteed to please you and your date. First, shampoo your hair and add a curl-enhancing conditioner or cream. While your hair is air drying, scrunch it a little to encourage curls. If you don’t have the time to let your hair dry naturally, use a blow dryer with a diffuser. Once your hair is dry, take small strands and curl them with a curling iron to control your curls and give them a styled look. Tousle the ringlets a little with your finger to break them into loose curls. Then, pull your hair back with a ribbon to match your dress and leave a few strands loose in the back. If you’d like a fuller look, cheat a little by adding a curly hairpiece underneath the gathered curls. A flower or rhinestone-studded clip is a great finishing touch to this style.

Basic Make-up Tips for your Quince Años

Makeup for Quince Años - Maquillaje para Quince Años

Makeup for Quince Años – Maquillaje para Quince Años

On your quince años day, you will want to create a glamorous, out-of-the ordinary look with your make-up. Still, it is important to have a good normal base of makeup to work with so you don’t end up looking too made up or not at all like yourself. The key to quinceañera beauty is to look like yourself with a little added glamour. When doing your makeup yourself, follow the suggestions below:

Preparation: Be sure your face is clean and properly moisturized. Makeup blends best into moisturized skin. Also, if possible, put your dress on before doing your makeup to prevent any stains or smudges that might get on the dress while slipping it over your head.

Step 1: Use your index finger to gently cover any dark circles under your eyes with a concealer that is one shade lighter than the rest of your skin, quince años makeup should very natural.

Step 2: If you have any unfortunate quinceañera-night zits or blemishes (they happen to the best of us), cover them with a foundation that is the exact color of your skin. Step back from the mirror and see if your skin has any blotches or redness. If so, blend these patches with a little more foundation. If you cannot find a foundation the exact color of your skin, choose a slightly darker shade. A light foundation will appear to sit on your face and will not blend as well.

Step 3: Set your makeup by lightly covering your face with a small amount of powder. If you do not use powder, your concealer will disappear before the night is over.

Step 4: Groom your brows by combing them up and across with a brow brush or toothbrush (used only for this purpose!). If you have thin brows, softly apply eye shadow to fill the brows in and give them a fuller appearance. Do not tweeze or pluck your brows on the night of the quinceañera. This will cause noticeable redness and irritation, do it a week before tus quince años.

Step 5: Use your finger or a brush to apply shimmery shadow to your eyelids. A silvery lavender shade is flattering for almost everyone, but you can experiment with the shade based upon your natural complexion and the color of your quince años dress.

Step 6: Apply some cream blush to give your cheeks a touch of color. Start at the apple of the cheek and blend the blush up and then down with a full brush. Turn to the side to be sure the blush is fully blended. The perfect color of blush for you is the same as the color of your cheeks after a few minutes of exercise.

Step 7: Apply some mascara to both your top and bottom eyelashes, creating a thicker covering on the outer lashes. To create an appearance of fuller, longer lashes, wait for the first coat to dry and then apply a second coat, if posible try this mascara a week before de tus quince años, some chicas are allergic to some mascara.

Step 8: Fill in your entire lip with a creamy lip pencil for longer lasting color. Then, use your finger or a brush to apply gloss on top. The gloss will give you a sexy, wet-lip look. Choose your lip color based upon your complexion, the color of your dress, and how much you want your lips to stand out.

Step 9: Enjoy your quince años..
